With team members from New Zealand, Australia, Germany, England, China, Hawaii and more, Utah Prep Academy brings a wide range of cultural perspectives into everyday student interactions, reflecting the backgrounds of its students and helping them adapt, settle and succeed.

Applied Learning and Athletics in One System
Utah Prep Academy stands out not only for the way it is academically organized but also through its learning model. It allows student-athletes to combine classroom and online classes, with flexibility in both. While traveling, they can be in touch with their activities. Besides core subject areas, students have the opportunity to obtain CTE credentials, college GE credits and even an associate degree. Instruction is no longer confined to the classroom but is enriched by experiential activities like operating a student store and working on a farm, while ESL assistance enables foreign students to acclimatize and advance.
Sports activities are not treated as separate, but are integrated into the system. Starting with a world-class basketball program and then branching out to baseball and golf, the times and calendar are set up to support both training and studies. Traveling overseas, participating in sports competitions and engaging in student exchange programs offer good opportunities for personal growth and learning about different cultures, which are ways to develop discipline, responsibility and leadership.
Outcomes and the Road Ahead

Utah Prep Academy has achieved 100 percent college placement for its seniors last season, supported by a well-organized admissions process and a system that balances independence with accountability. Students are expected to meet their goals, with staff providing targeted support to ensure they remain on track.

In the future, the emphasis will be on expansion, with new activities in baseball and soccer planned and developed. Ted Heid and other experienced leaders who have recently joined the faculty are strategically helping move the school in this direction. With more international contacts and changes and additions to its various programs, Utah Prep Academy continues to evolve, not just as a school, but as a model for what lies ahead.
By combining structure with flexibility and discipline with independence, it creates an environment where students are expected to take ownership of their path. As the school expands into new sports and strengthens its global presence, the core idea remains unchanged—to be a place where students are prepared, not just placed.
