Teachers bring a powerful blend of leadership, creativity, and heart to their work. But for many, there comes a time when they begin to consider a new direction and future opportunities. Whether driven by changing goals, burnout, or a desire for growth, some educators decide to step beyond the classroom.

The hard part? Translating years of teaching experience into roles where their skills will be recognized and valued. Job titles don’t always match up. Applications can feel like they disappear into a black hole. And confidence can take a hit when it seems like classroom strengths don’t fit neatly into corporate checklists.

Ali Parrish knows that journey firsthand. After navigating her own career change from her classroom to working at education companies and more, she founded Teacher Transition, a company built by teachers, for teachers, to help them explore new professional paths, gain in-demand skills, and move forward with clarity and confidence. What started as a passion project has since grown into a full-fledged organization offering training, support mentorship, and practical tools for career pivots.

“We’re not just helping teachers write resumes,” says Ali. “We’re also helping them discover what they truly enjoy, build the skills employers are looking for, and connecting with real opportunities. Everything we offer is built for teachers, by teachers who’ve walked the path and now work in the roles teachers want next. We’ve been where they are and we know how to get to where they want to go next. We’ve trained for, hired and recruited for these roles for years, and we know how to help teachers land them.”

HELPING TEACHERS MAKE THEIR SKILLS STICK

At the heart of Teacher Transition is the ABC Framework:

• Awareness of personal strengths and goals, and jobs aligned with those
• Building the skills companies need them to have
• Connecting with companies successfully to get hired

The process starts with helping teachers see where their talents align with in-demand roles. From there, they participate in targeted, hands-on training and receive support through every step of the job search—from networking to interviewing.

Graduates have landed roles as curriculum developers, instructional designers, educational consultants, corporate trainers, customer success managers and professional learning specialists. The goal isn’t just a new job—it’s meaningful work that fits, inspires, and allows them to build a life they love!

To make that happen, Teacher Transition offers a growing platform of career-track Courses tailored to specific roles, including:

1. Become a Curriculum and Instructional Designer
2. Become an Educational Success Specialist
3. Become a Trainer, Professional Development Provider, and Educational Consultant
4. Become a Freelancer and Independent Contractor

Each course includes university master’s-level credit, helping teachers move over on their pay scale for as long as they continue in the classroom—or advance beyond it when the time is right. In addition, course members earn certification in these roles.

To provide the most effective, convenient, and accessible learning experience possible, each course comes with on-demand video instruction, skill development training, resume templates, cover letter templates, LinkedIn templates, top interview questions and answers, training from companies where teachers want to work next, and more.

Along with the on-demand course, course members also get access to a 10-week learning cohort with mentors, live learning sessions, open office hours and an online community. The mentors actively work in these roles at companies like Canvas Instructure, PowerSchool, HMH (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), and Learning Ally. Mentors lead live lessons, have open-office hours, and provide personalized support and feedback. Teachers get real insight into the day-to-day responsibilities of each role and what employers are really looking for. They also build meaningful connections to help them transition into these new roles.

SUPPORT THAT DOESN’T STOP AT A COURSE

While some programs offer one-and-done services, Teacher Transition is built for long-term support. Members get access to a private job board, live coaching sessions, and private communities where mentors provide guidance and feedback from a place of true understanding.

The results speak for themselves!

Kellie, just a year from retirement, wanted to stay professionally active without returning to full-time teaching. Through Teacher Transition, she gained clarity, built new skills, and secured contract work with major edtech companies. Now, she works remotely, occasionally travels to train school teams, and enjoys meaningful, well-paid work.

Matt, an experienced teacher, was ready for new growth opportunities. Within a month of starting a Teacher Transition course, he landed a corporate role helping others learn and be trained effectively in their roles.

Jennifer transitioned from teaching to curriculum and instructional design in just three months. She increased her salary by more than $23,000 and enjoys working in a fully-remote role.

LeQuisha landed a training role within three months of completing her course. Like many Teacher Transition graduates, she is now coming back to mentor and support teachers on the side too. Many graduates have the capacity to pour into other teachers in meaningful ways because their life-balance is healthier.

Teacher Transition’s impact extends beyond individuals as it also supports companies. When a division of the LEGO brand needed someone with recent classroom experience for a UX design project to improve a learning platform, Teacher Transition provided qualified candidates within 48 hours—multiple of whom were hired, saving the company time and bringing fresh, skilled insight to the team.

A PLACE WHERE TEACHERS BELONG

For those asking “What’s next?”, Teacher Transition offers more than answers. It offers belonging—a space where teachers are seen, their experience is understood, and their future is taken seriously.

Every course, coaching session, job board post, and job placement sends the same message: your skills matter and are needed, even in new, exciting ways beyond the walls of a classroom.
