This philosophy is evident in the Integrated Design Studio, where more than seventy students collaborated with the UC San Diego Natural Reserve System on a new master plan for the Kendall-Frost Marsh, the city’s last remaining wetland.
Their proposals balanced ecological preservation with public access, giving policymakers a new perspective on urban resilience. The project demonstrated how architecture students can influence civic debates and reimagine the role of design in shaping just and sustainable cities.
