Every lasting legacy begins with faith. This one began with hope. In 1987, a small group of parents came together with a simple yet powerful prayer for a place where their children could learn, grow, and walk in their faith. That vision took root and grew into Mariners Christian School (MCS), a Christ-centered community school founded on the belief that faith and learning belongs together.

From the very beginning, it has remained a distinctly Christian school, guided by the conviction that education should nurture both mind and spirit. Nearly forty years later, that commitment remains unchanged, and the school has flourished under a mission that has guided every decision since the beginning.

In describing that mission, the leadership and community often use the phrase ‘uncompromising to faith and truth.’ In a world where truth can feel subjective or influenced by culture, MCS remains anchored in Biblical truth and encourages students to understand and live it with confidence and grace.

This focus begins with alignment. Every staff member is mission driven, united in purpose, and committed to living out the values of the school. As a covenant school, MCS serves families who seek an education rooted in faith, and share the beliefs and values of the community. The admissions process ensures this placement, strengthening the partnership between home and school. The unity helps protect the Biblical foundation on which MCS was built and supports the shared responsibility of nurturing students with a kingdom purpose.

At MCS, education is pursued with excellence. One of its core values is Exemplary Academics, which defines the standard the school holds to and the responsibility to provide the best Christian education possible. For the school, excellence is defined by an education that honors God rather than prestige or status, expressed through a culture of growth, learning, and continual improvement. It invests in the continual professional development of its teachers. Faculty members are lifelong learners who refine their craft, adopt effective instructional strategies, and remain at the forefront of education. Long-term strategic planning is in place, with goals set five years out and broken into annual priorities that create ongoing growth and improvement across programs and departments.

Reflecting the same commitment to meeting students where they are, MCS offers a Student Support Program with resource teachers, intervention teachers, and enrichment specialists to address varied learning needs. Whether a student requires additional academic support or greater rigor, the program ensures that every child can grow and thrive. Small group instruction is used from transitional kindergarten through middle school. This approach allows teachers to understand where each student is in their learning and provide instruction that is personalized, effective, and growth focused.
One powerful example of transformation is a former student who enrolled in second grade with significant learning challenges and emotional trauma after negative school experiences. With care, support, and intentional intervention, he healed emotionally and overcame his academic gaps. By seventh grade, he no longer required accommodations, joined student leadership, graduated with honors, and was accepted into the high school of his choice. His journey demonstrates the life changing impact of love, encouragement, and a Christ-centered community at MCS.

A Community of Partnership and Purpose

Connected Community is another core value of MCS. The school believes parents are partners, not observers. The partnership between home, school, and church is viewed as a three legged stool, each essential to a child’s spiritual and personal development. Parents participate through volunteering, committees, prayer groups, and leadership roles. These relationships often grow into lifelong connections that remain long after graduation.
