“We’re not only preparing doctors to know the material, but to know how to practice it from day one,” says Michael Davidson, senior executive director of marketing-admissions.
Every stage of the journey helps students build confidence, strengthen clinical judgment and gain hands-on experience. That journey begins before students even enroll. Discovery webinars introduce prospective students to chiropractic and connect them with practicing professionals. Once enrolled, students enter Life West’s Clinically Inspired Learning (CIL) model, which introduces hands-on clinical education in the first term. Students first learn foundational skills such as spinal palpation before progressing to patient interactions and increasingly immersive clinical experiences that continue throughout their education.
Learning through Clinical Experience
Life West believes confidence develops through experience rather than observation. Students repeatedly apply what they learn in real clinical settings, allowing classroom knowledge to become a practical skill.
“As soon as they graduate, they actually know how to practice the material,” says Sarah Tiffany, director of content and brand strategy.
Repeated patient interactions strengthen clinical judgment while helping students become comfortable making decisions in real-world situations. Students also participate in service trips that provide chiropractic care in underserved communities with limited access to healthcare, further expanding their clinical experience while serving people in need.
The emphasis on experiential learning helps bridge the transition from classroom learning to professional practice. Rather than wondering how to apply what they have studied, Life West students graduate with the confidence and practical understanding that come from extensive hands-on experience.
Supporting Diverse Career Paths
Students arrive at Life West from a wide range of professional and academic backgrounds, including athletics, fitness, massage therapy and technology. The institution supports those varied interests through one of the broadest selections of chiropractic techniques and specializations offered by any chiropractic college, allowing them to pursue educational pathways that align with their professional goals.
Those interested in sports performance can gain hands-on experience through the institution’s Nexus Brain Center, an educational brain rehabilitation clinic, and its nationally recognized rugby program. Students who want to pursue pediatric chiropractic can deepen their knowledge through the Fiat Pediatric Club, a student organization focused on pediatric and family care. Together, these opportunities allow them to explore areas of practice that align with their interests and the communities they hope to serve after graduation.
From Classroom to Professional Practice
Life West’s commitment to practice readiness culminates in its preceptorship program during the final stage of the Doctor of Chiropractic program. Students work alongside licensed chiropractors in professional practice, often within specialties they intend to pursue themselves. These placements provide valuable clinical mentorship while exposing students to the day-to-day realities of operating a chiropractic practice, from patient care to business management.

This recognition reflects what makes a Life West education distinctive: chiropractic philosophy, rigorous academics, hands-on learning and meaningful clinical experience.
The program’s impact can be seen through graduates such as Jordy, who accepted a position with the Oregon clinic, where he completed his preceptorship just days after graduation. His experience illustrates how professional mentorship, clinical immersion and early relationship building help students transition confidently into practice.
Looking ahead, Life West continues to expand opportunities for students. Its Nebraska campus has experienced significant growth, while the institution is preparing to relocate its California campus to California State University, East Bay in Hayward. The move will provide students with access to expanded campus resources while preserving Life West’s independent curriculum, educational philosophy and distinctive approach to chiropractic education.
Life Chiropractic College West continues to shape the next generation of chiropractors through an educational model built on early clinical experience, continuous mentorship and lifelong professional support. That commitment to developing confident, practice-ready graduates has earned the institution recognition as the Top Chiropractic Education Institution 2026.
