A Career Built on Purpose-Driven Service

Emma Hogan’s path in student accommodation began in operations and finance, but quickly evolved into a mission-driven career grounded in access, inclusion and care. Since her early days as a sales ledger officer with UPP Broadgate Park, she has taken on every role in the accommodation lifecycle—financial oversight, lettings, administration, marketing and residence life. Each role deepened her expertise in turning student housing into an active contributor to student success.

Over more than 15 years at UPP, Hogan advanced from accommodation administration manager to head of accommodation services. In this time, she led projects ranging from CRM system rollouts to behavioral framework launches, all while driving site-level improvements and commercial results. She built strong relationships with universities, including Nottingham and Reading, where she aligned accommodation delivery with institutional goals.

Her project contributions were instrumental during competitive bids, including work with Imperial College London, where she led on mobilizing new marketing platforms for saturated student housing markets. She was shortlisted for UPP’s Rising Star Award for her leadership, adaptability and influence.

For Hogan, student accommodation is not just about beds, it’s about belonging and creating a positive chapter in someone’s life. This belief has anchored her transition to the University of Lincoln, where she brings experience from the private sector to lead in public education with the same intensity and vision.

Since joining the University of Lincoln in late 2024, Hogan has been at the forefront of shaping an accommodation ecosystem that reflects the institution’s growing prestige. The university has recently earned national recognition, winning in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards for Halls and Student Accommodation in 2024 and receiving further shortlisting in 2025. These achievements reflect the university’s ethos and the evolving role of accommodation as a gateway to student wellbeing and community.

Under Hogan’s leadership, Lincoln’s accommodation services have become more data-informed and collaborative. She oversees a high-performing team focused on exceeding recruitment, revenue and satisfaction targets. Her work includes tracking occupancy metrics, reporting on commercial movement and shaping strategies rooted in student voice and experience.

The University of Lincoln’s national profile is rising, with accolades like the Queen’s Anniversary Prize and recognition as a global top 150 university in the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings.
