Ninety-two percent of faculty members at King’s College hold a Ph.D. or an equivalent terminal degree and are highly proficient in their field of study and research. They are deeply involved in student development through various means, including teaching, mentorship and scholarships.
Inclusivity and service are a huge part of King’s College’s mission. King’s College welcomes individuals of all faiths to come together and serve the world by combining academic rigor with community work. For example, in the physician assistant and occupational therapy programs, students apply their subject-matter expertise in real-world settings. Each year, students from these programs participate in a medical mission at Canto Grande, a clinic in Lima, Peru, where they use their training to work alongside the local Holy Cross religious community. A prime example of this is Dr. Sophia Panaccione, a former student who majored in biology and is now a medical doctor and professor at Brown University. While her academic journey focused on scientific inquiry, it was a theology professor at King’s College who inspired her to broaden her perspective and think more deeply about the human experience. Involvement in community service also played a crucial role in shaping her career path and helping her understand the value of helping others.
Since its founding, King’s College has been dedicated to creating pathways for first-generation students and those with other barriers preventing them from a college education. Over the past 75 years, while the educational landscape has evolved, this mission and commitment remain steadfast.
