Founded by Nancy Johnston during the 1995–96 school year, Cy-Fair Music and Arts was acquired in 2020 by Antonius Bittmann and Valentina Jotovic, both classically trained professional musicians with a deep understanding of the life-changing power of the arts. Their educational philosophy blends structured learning with creative exploration, ensuring students receive both clear direction and the freedom to grow artistically.
As demand for comprehensive arts education continues to rise, Bittmann and Jotovic have worked intentionally to keep the school at the forefront of arts instruction, offering highly personalized programs that reflect each student’s goals, learning style, and definition of success.
“We meet students where they are in terms of skill level, and then our instructors take them where they want to go,” says Antonius Bittmann. “Every student defines success differently, and our responsibility is to support that direction with structure and care.”
A Legacy of Excellence and Leadership
Cy-Fair Music and Arts has greatly benefited from the depth of experience Bittmann and Jotovic bring to arts education and entrepreneurship. Their journey began in 2006 with the acquisition of Hunterdon Academy of the Arts in Flemington, New Jersey—marking the start of a broader mission to provide high-quality, student-centered arts education.
Antonius, an organist, musicologist, and former university professor, and Valentina, a professional flutist, educator and administrator, bring together a unique blend of European conservatory training and U.S. educational practice. Over the years, they refined an instructional philosophy that balances technical discipline with creativity, individuality, and personal growth—an approach that now defines all of their schools.
In 2020, Bittmann and Jotovic expanded their reach by acquiring Cy-Fair Music and Arts and integrating it into their established educational model. Shortly thereafter, the global pandemic presented unprecedented challenges. Throughout this period, their leadership reaffirmed a core belief: the arts are not optional—they are essential to emotional well-being, cognitive development, and human connection. Under their guidance, Cy-Fair Music and Arts emerged stronger, more resilient, and more deeply connected to its mission.

Beyond weekly lessons, the school emphasizes real-world experiences. Students participate in local performances, interactive workshops, and instrument demonstrations that allow them to apply their skills in meaningful settings. These opportunities build confidence, public speaking skills, and a sense of artistic purpose.
Recently, students performed at a local coffee shop, sharing their talents with neighbors, friends, and local patrons. Events like these not only empower students but also strengthen the connection between Cy-Fair Music and Arts and the surrounding community—bringing the arts directly to the public.
Where Passion Meets Progress
Success at Cy-Fair Music and Arts is defined broadly and intentionally. Some students strive for top competitive honors, while others celebrate milestones such as their first recital or newfound confidence. All achievements are valued equally.
One such example is Janai, who began voice lessons in December 2023 and added acting lessons in 2024. Within months, she earned perfect scores at a regional music competition and was invited to perform on the festival’s main stage. Her success reflects the school’s philosophy of combining technical excellence with confidence-building and personal growth.
Similarly, Leo, a piano student, exemplifies progress at every level. Beginning with modest goals, he has grown steadily—recently performing in his first recital and preparing for his second. His parents shared, “Piano has brought so much joy to our family,” underscoring the far-reaching impact of the school’s work.
Building Strong Community Ties
Cy-Fair Music and Arts is deeply invested in the local community it serves. The school actively partners with local schools, businesses, and organizations through performances, outreach events, and educational demonstrations.
Initiatives such as instrument petting zoos and school-based music demonstrations introduce young children to the arts in engaging, hands-on ways. Recently, a collaboration with a local elementary school allowed students to explore various instruments firsthand—sparking curiosity and creating lasting memories. These partnerships strengthen community connections while reinforcing the school’s role as a cultural and educational resource.
Growing with Integrity
Cy-Fair Music and arts has been in growth mode ever since the school changed ownership in 2020. A major milestone in Bittmann’s and Jotovic’s strategy was their 2022 launch of Music Academy of Texas, a brand new music school in the Katy-Cinco Ranch (TX) area that has experienced explosive growth. Looking ahead, the owners have plans to expand their programs and reach even further while maintaining the integrity of their educational model. A key focus is the continued growth especially of its music programs. This includes the broader implementation of ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) certification, which serves as a globally recognized standard of musical excellence. This ABRSM pathway provides students with measurable benchmarks and internationally respected credentials.
The school also intends to further develop its visual arts and acting programs, both of which continue to grow in demand. The acting program, in particular, has proven transformative—helping students develop confidence, communication skills, and self-expression.
As Cy-Fair Music and Arts continues to grow, its commitment remains unchanged: to deliver individualized, high-quality arts education that empowers students to succeed—both on stage and in life.
