Care Hope College views healthcare education as more than preparation for a career. It sees healthcare as a ministry and education as preparation for fulfilling the calling to care.

The Florida-based Christian college offers quality educational programs that equip students with the knowledge and technical skills needed to deliver excellent patient care. Students pursue programs that prepare them for hands-on patient care, developing knowledge and practical skills through classroom, laboratory and clinical learning. Intensive academic and personal support helps students complete their preparation, pass board exams and secure employment.

The college's faith-based foundation teaches students to see the person behind the patient chart. They are taught to see every patient as an image bearer of God and to treat them with dignity and care.

Education, in this setting, thus becomes a training to fulfill a divine assignment through the care they provide.

“We’re equipping the next generation of students to be literally the hands and feet of Christ in a hurting world,” says Dr. Hope Doyles, president and CEO.

Dr. Doyles draws on Luke 12:48 to underscore that sense of stewardship: “For unto whosoever much is given of him shall be much required.”

Creating Pathways for Different Starting Points

Preparing students to take on that responsibility starts with understanding where each student is in their own educational or career journey. Some students know exactly which credential they want while others are transitioning from established careers in other fields and need help deciding where to begin.

Prospective students discuss their educational journey with admissions counselors and identify a pathway that will take them where they want to go. A student can begin with foundational patient-care training and progress through successive healthcare credentials, carrying knowledge and experience forward at each stage. The pathway gives students a structured route for advancing their education as their career goals evolve.

The institution has supported many such learners. One, having previously worked as a teacher, wanted to transition into nursing and began at Care Hope College in the home health aide program. She progressed through certified nursing assistant, patient care technician, licensed practical nurse and eventually registered nurse training. Her education continued through a bachelor’s degree and into a Doctor of Nursing Practice program.

The graduate’s journey took on personal meaning for Dr. Doyles when she met her years later, while recovering from a surgery. The student, who had once worked her way through the college’s programs, was now caring for Dr. Doyles as a registered nurse. Seeing a Care Hope graduate at her bedside brought tears to Dr. Doyles’ eyes—a full-circle moment that connected the college’s mission to achievement.
Professional growth eventually brought her back into the institution. She now teaches at Care Hope College and serves as program chair and director of nursing for the practical nursing program.

Building Skills for the Hospital Floor

Developing confident healthcare professionals starts with meeting students where they are academically. New learners do not come with same academic backgrounds, confidence levels or healthcare experience. Recognizing those differences, the college begins its teaching process by identifying where each student needs support. Small classes give instructors room to understand individual gaps while high-touch mentorship, intensive faculty support and tutoring give students opportunities to strengthen their foundation. Care Hope College describes the process as turning students’ academic insecurities and fear of failure into academic armor, giving them a stronger base for the work ahead.

“We create that foundational knowledge and then build on it skill by skill, step by step,” says Dr. Doyles.

Hands-on practice reinforces classroom learning. Simulation laboratories allow students to develop healthcare skills in a controlled setting and learn from mistakes, without the pressure of caring for a live patient. Repetition helps build muscle memory and clinical confidence, preparing learners to move on to the hospital floor as trainees and eventually as full-time nurses.

The practical nursing program provides a specific example of how classroom learning is carried into patient care. Following Florida’s curriculum framework for practical nurses, the program combines lectures, laboratory skills and clinical rotations in hospitals and healthcare facilities. High-fidelity and low-fidelity simulations give students additional opportunities to practice procedures, reinforce what they learn in class and prepare for state licensure.

Making Education Fit Real Life

Care Hope College offers different learning arrangements for students balancing their studies with work, family, financial commitments and other responsibilities. Students can choose a program pathway based on their goals and the time they can commit. The patient care technician program is six months long, the practical nursing program 12, and the bachelor’s degree takes approximately 48 months. An RN bridge to a bachelor’s degree takes one year to 18 months. It also offers additional pathways into healthcare through Healthcare Management at the associate and bachelor’s levels, along with Medical Assisting, Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacy Management programs.

  • We seek to be a sanctuary that develops ‘battle-tested warriors of mercy’ and purpose-driven healthcare professionals who understand that structural resilience can be stronger than raw willpower.

Students also have flexibility in their class schedules. They can choose morning, evening or weekend schedules to fit their studies around existing commitments. Weekend clinical rotations are available for those who cannot follow traditional schedules. The college also works closely with students to accommodate individual circumstances.

Flexibility is complemented by resources that help students manage the demands of life inside and outside the classroom. Well Connect, a confidential 24-hour service available at no cost, offers students and alumni access to professional guidance and resources for steering through life’s challenges. Free tutoring provides further academic support as students work toward completing their programs.

Handholding students is a part of the Care Hope College experience. The campus director, called as the ‘mother of the school,’ reflects the close relationship students develop with people who look out for them. The college remains involved before, during and after class, giving students a sense that someone is there to guide and care for them throughout their journey.

Building Resilience for the Reality of Care

Healthcare work can place significant emotional demands on professionals alongside the pressures of clinical responsibilities. Care Hope College prepares students to manage the effects of secondary trauma, loss and grief while protecting their own wellbeing. They learn to remain grounded in stressful environments and bring the peace of Christ into difficult situations through the care they provide.

“We seek to be a sanctuary that develops battle-tested warriors of mercy and purpose-driven healthcare professionals who understand that structural resilience can be stronger than raw willpower,” says Dr. Doyles.

A culture of mutual support prepares students to contribute effectively as members of a healthcare team. Care Hope College does not treat healthcare education as an individual academic race because professional care depends on collaboration. Students are encouraged to carry one another’s burdens rather than face difficult periods in isolation. Faculty and staff support them through prayer and personal encouragement, fostering a family-centered covenant community where no student is left to struggle or fail alone.

Such an environment prepares students for more than a certificate or examination. For learners whose calling is healthcare service, Care Hope College offers a path toward becoming skilled professionals who can bring both competence and compassion to the people they serve. The commitment makes Care Hope College a fitting choice for Top Christian College 2026.
